This Trimester I choose to read a book, named The Color Purple. This book was very sad but it was also interesting, I really liked it, it was about a woman named Celie and all her life she was treated awfully. Finally, her abusive husbands mistress is the one to help Celie change her life and live her dreams. Throughout this book there are so many obstacles and tragedy she had to overcome, and in the end she was in a content and joyous place in her life. I think the author did a great job at descriptions and expressing feeling.
The novel I decided to read is called The Golden Compass, I think this book was sort of boring in the begging, but it got better. I would say it was okay, I didn't love it, but it wasn't awful. This is about a young girl named Lyra, who grew up in/around a college, Jordan College. When she was "old enough" her Uncle, sent her on her way to London with a women named Mrs.Coulter. Before she leaves her Uncle give her a item that looks like a compass, called the alethiometer and Lyra founds out her uncle is actually her father and the mysterious woman she left with is her mother. And the alethiometer gave her the ability to see the future and past, Lyra was on a quest to the north to see what was stealing the children and the golden compass, played a big part in the adventure.
